The place where the Learning Village meets

This Learning Village is where people come together to engage in meaningful conversation & joyful connection around our “inner climate”

Welcome!

What is an Inner Climate Learning Village? A gathering, large or small, where people come together to engage in meaningful conversation & joyful connection around how our “inner climate” is affecting what we see happening in the outer world & decide what we will take responsibility for. A Learning Village can appear anywhere, and the first are at the time of the COP15 Summit in Copenhagen.

Amy, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful expression of the Hosting Transformation vision. My late response is not due to lack of interest but to having waited for some signs that would allow us to engage in this in way that will be…

Thanks for your (you and the circle!) continually thoughtful contribution, Richard! I've enjoyed how you've taken your thoughts deeper each time. Looking forward to you and Sam joining us here in NZ in March!

That's a great photo of you -- welcome to the virtual village (at least here you don't have to sleep on a boat!). Great to have you there in Copenhagen. Have you recovered from Tine & Jasmine's visit?

12 Ways to Help this Community Thrive

Here are 12 quick ways to get started in this online community space...
(Note: if you need help getting started on how to do any of these things, check out the FAQs page)

1. Fill out your profile – be sure to fill out all the required information so that other people can find you based on common interests or needs. Include a photo of your beautiful self, and maybe you want to take it an extra step - share something unexpected about yourself that will open up new possibilities for you.

2. Embellish “your page” with a favorite quote or an image of something that inspires you.

3. Look in the People tab to find someone you know and invite them to be your “friend”. Or ... find someone you don’t know and invite them to be your “friend”! (Read their profile to learn a bit about them and try leaving a friendly note or starting a conversation.)

4. Invite 3 people you know who are not in this online community space but would love to be part of the conversation.

5. Write a blog post – take this opportunity to articulate something that is important to you and may be of interest to others.

6. Start a conversation about something you’re curious about or would love to hear others' thoughts about.

7. Upload some of your favourite photographs, or if you’ve made a video or a podcast of something of interest, share it in the media area.

8. Tell us a story about an experience you’ve had - share it in the Notes section.

9. Comment on someone else’s photograph, video, or blog post.

10. Host a group to focus attention on a particular project, or address a specific regional or interest group.

11. Share a resource that has helped you (put it in the Cybrary thread in the Forum.)

12. And last but definitely not least - if you have received value from this exploration of Learning Villages - in your work, or in your life more generally - please consider calling or joining a core team so that this gift can continue to travel wherever it's needed.

(Thanks to Simon d'Orsagna in Australia for this text!)

What we think...

Climate change is not a problem. It is a consequence of how humans are collectively seeing the world, connecting with one another, and acting as if we were separate parts. Global attention on climate change is creating the ideal…

Giving credit where credit is due

Dear Village People,

I don't believe in the private ownership of ideas or their expression because they belong to our intellectual commons. Nevertheless, I like to name the direct source of my creative output, particularly when it was largely inspired by one source. That's because by doing so, I strengthen the links of co-creativity and friendship, and steer my readers to other potentially useful information.

That's what I did on the… Continue

Gleaning the Columbus Learning Village

Gathered Thursday evening at the Urban Arts Space in Columbus, OH, in what was once a Lazarus department store (now retrofitted as a green building), across the street from what used to be the Columbus City Center Mall (now being demolished, to become a park). Changes in the air. I'm grateful to Andrew for making it possible to hold the space together.

15 mins before start time, a friend calls to tell me she can't make it: "All the news has my inner climate rainy and full of sorrow… Continue

What is the connection between the inner and outer climate? A harvest

Harvest of the Question:

What is the connection between the outer and inner climate?

”Yes! is the answer to How?” – Tim Merry

We sat in circle contemplating this question, and here are some high ligts of our answers:

Up till now I have let other people answer this question for me. Now I have to realize my work with sustainability will not be what I hoped for.

When is a painting finished? If you divide his work into his lifespan, Picasso did one painting a… Continue
